With radiological and nuclear threats on the rise, deterrence alone is not enough. We must invest in detection, resilience, and the advanced technologies that will protect our people and our allies.

Innovation must be at the heart of this effort. The UK has much to learn from models like Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) where early backing of breakthrough technologies has delivered lasting security and economic impact.

Defence investment, done right, can be a catalyst for growth. But to unlock that potential, we need to reform public procurement models in UK and give innovative UK companies a real seat at the table.
